What You Need to Do Before the Emergency Plumber Gets To Your House

One day you might have to contact an emergency plumber  Austin during the night hours, on the weekend, or on a holiday. That's why it's important to know now what you can do to prepare for the plumber to get there.

Shut Down Water

The first thing you'll need to do is to shut down the water supply to the area that's causing the problem. For example, if you notice that the kitchen sink is leaking all over the floor, you'll want to shut off the water supply to the sink. To do this, simply locate the knob on one of the pipes near the sink and turn it. That should stop the water from flowing out as strongly as it was.

Sop Up Water

To make sure the plumber can work as soon as they arrive, take steps to sop up as much water as you are able. Use towels and other linens to dry the floor as much as you can. This may also help you minimize damage to your flooring.

When you do these two things, you'll be able to get the place prepared for the plumber to arrive, work and make necessary repairs.
